History

In December 1945, a group of local businessmen founded Citizens Bank & Trust Co. to provide financial alternatives to the residents and businesses of St. Tammany Parish. Its founders named their bank after the people they intended it to serve. CBT opened its doors in January 1946 with 8 employees and currently has 41 employees. The employees today still use the same standards that were set when the bank was founded, which is to have a friendly and personal connection with its customers. In 1954, CBT was the first bank in St. Tammany to have a drive-up window. Today CBT is still considered a small community bank with 5 branches through out western St. Tammany that is able to provide the same advanced technology as some larger banks. CBT takes great pride in helping the residents of St. Tammany with all of their financial and banking needs and being able to give back to the community.
